Easy to learn but rich with narrative depth, Will & Whispers lets participants explore uncharted continents filled with unique species, forgotten artifacts, ancient monuments, and mythical forces. Players don’t just follow a scripted story — they *create* it, shaping the lore of Terra through their actions, achievements, and legend-making. With optional companion tools, the platform supports community engagement, early access to new features, and social connectivity via Discord. The Challenge
The core challenge behind Will & Whispers was building a platform that captures both the freedom of open world roleplaying and the structure needed to support creative storytelling at scale. Unlike traditional RPG systems with rigid rules or predefined paths, this world had to evolve dynamically based on player-driven narratives. The system needed to be easily approachable for new players but deep enough to reward imaginative contributions, without overwhelming them with technical complexity. Additionally, integrating social engagement tools like Discord and email sign-ups — while maintaining privacy and offering early access updates — required a thoughtful UI/UX that guides users through discovery, participation, and community interaction.
Our Solution
To meet these goals, we designed a user interface that balances exploration with clear navigation. The homepage and world introduction highlight Terra’s lore while inviting players to subscribe for updates and join the growing community. We incorporated easy sign-up flows and calls to action for early access, and linked directly to social platforms like Discord, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube to strengthen community engagement. The platform uses React for responsive, interactive front-end experiences, backed by Node.js for performance and scalability. Game storytelling elements are visually prototyped in Figma to ensure the look and feel matches the imaginative tone of the world. This approach results in a seamless experience that encourages player participation, fosters shared narrative creation, and keeps users connected with ongoing developments and features.
